ABOUT ME
Howdy, my name's Calamity Jon - internet-based drunkard, two-fisted king of the hoboes, and all-around blend of thirteen unfortunate herbs and spices. I'm also a cartoonist and illustrator who has recently moved to the Seattle area (after more than two decades living in Tucson, Arizona).
I've been drawing comics since 1994, and started writing and drawing the Ignatz-nominated webcomic Jeremy: Just Turned Nine in 2000. I've also done Open Book for Modern Tales, the annual BOO! Halloween Stories, and a smattering of other comics here and there, as well as illustrations and design for a plethora of games, DVD-ROMs, websites and more. I likes to DRAW!
I'm also a graphic designer and Web UI Engineer, working in both front-end web development and some back-end technologies. If that cup of tea happens to perform spinning handcarts in your wagon of choice, please take a moment to check out my Resume/CV.
AMAZING CALAMITY FACTS!
- I speak a smattering of French, German and Spanish, as well as shpek Yiddish and Scots Gaelic.
- I play the gee-tar and the bagpipes. Conversely, I play the air guitar very poorly.
- My favorite comedians are Lenny Bruce, Bob Newhart, Eddie Izzard and Bill Hicks
- My favorite writers are Raymond Chandler, Kurt Vonnegut, and Joseph Heller.
- I am currently teaching myself the Banjo and Tuvan Throat-Singing (Not necessarily together, but then again why not?).
- I am mighty of limb, lord have mercy!
My current projects include Zayde Todt, a mishmosh of three Grimm's Fairy Tales told in pidgin Yiddish, and a couple of other comic projects for 2008 and 2009. I'm also restoring a 1928 Blue Comet banjo and building a Flea Circus. I like to do things!
